In Italia i giovani che non studiano e non lavorano sono poco più di 2 milioni, il 21,2% tra i 15-29enni. E' quanto emerge dal rapporto Istat "Noi Italia. 100 statistiche per capire il Paese in cui viviamo".
Il dato si riferisce al 2009 e riguarda Neet young people or those no longer included in a schooling / training. The Italian figure is the worst in Europe.
In Italy, Istat reveals, even the impact on GDP of spending on education and training is lower than the European Union, with the value of Italian, 4.6% for 2008, lower by 5.2 % of the EU.
The share of young (18-24 age group) with at most lower secondary school, who left school without attaining a higher qualification, is 19.2% and puts Italy in one of the worst in EU27 ranking (average 14.4% in 2009), according to the report of the National Institute of Statistics.
Anche il tasso di disoccupazione giovanile (15-24 anni) italiano è superiore a quello europeo. In Italia questo valore è pari al 25,4%, in aumento di oltre quattro punti rispetto all'anno precedente e superiore a quello medio dell'Unione (19,8%).
Un dato in crescita, invece, è quello dei 30-34enni che hanno conseguito un titolo di studio universitario o equivalente (19%), quota cresciuta di 3,3 punti percentuali tra il 2004 e il 2009. Tale livello, sottolinea l'Istat, è tuttavia ancora molto contenuto rispetto all'obiettivo del 40 per cento fissato da "Europa 2020".
